FD3S mods advice

Hello guys!
I'm purchasing a 1996 Efini RX-7 Bathurst, with the following engine mod:
- Blitz SUS power air intake
- Blitz BOV
- Blitz Turbo timer and boost gauge
- Blitz Nur Spec exhaust
The rest is standard OEM.

I have the chance to have fitted, while I'm waiting to take her up, a front mount intercooler: is it safe or I have to go with a downpipe first? Or I have to consider to do both?

I'll have to attend to a car show at the end of march as japanese car importer for Italy, so I need the car to impress customers, and I'd like to have a shiny engine bay (going to order a polished AST too...)

Hope someone ca help me out!!!

The FD uses a speed density EFI system. Anything you do to increase airflow through the engine (downpipe, intake) will increase VE an cause it to run lean. In general, you need to upgrade the fuel system after you have installed a downpipe and intake.

If you go with a front mount, and then add a downpipe, you'll need to upgrade the fuel supply. I'm not an FD person so I don't know exactly what options are available for minor mods.

I was also wondering the same thing, i plan on picking up a stock FD, and wasn't sure where to really go with it. Thanks

From what I've read, most people go with a downpipe in the early mod stages and switch to an upgraded intercooler later on.
