FD Price Evaluation

I am looking to buy a FD, but i am having a hard time evaluating the value of the car due to some weird mods. The car is a 1992 FD euro-spec, it has 3mm apex seals, street ports, 1600 injectors, haltech ecu, no rust etc. But has to be repainted and the interior needs extensive work. It has run 120k km. What would you guys evaluate the car at.

Personnally 3mm seals and big injectors would be a red flag to me. What turbo(s) and other mods does it have to need the fuel and seal modifications? Probably needs housings now too. And needing paint and interior with those kilometers (~75k miles) suggests it was left outside and/or didn’t see much care.

the engine has been rebuilt 30k km ago, it is currently running BNR stage 3 turbo's, but has been run with Greddy 25G singleturbo setup making 420whp. regarding the paint, it wast bad in the way that it had been standing outside just some minor scratches etc.

Rarely any real need for 3mm seals on a streeted car...so that’s not a good thing IMO. And you said it needed repainting, but now it’s just “some minor scratches etc”. ???
Who did the rebuild? A professional or the current owner. Quality of that can range widely. And going from single back to duals, especially if they’re sequential again is ALOT of work. Why?

the paint isnt really nice its matted, it has minor scratches and orange peel. i believe he did the rebuild, but he is a machine engineer with alot of experience 30+ years, also he has had the car for 12 years. he knows everyone in my country that owns a rx7 basically and he is a rotary expert. the streetport etc have been done by a company in sweden. he went back to sequential turbos due to our country regulations.

Well, value and price are two different things. Sounds like you’re going to buy the car regardless. Make the best deal you can.

well i am fully aware of the state of the car and there are def some red flags, but i am not sure if i can justify using 20k usd on a car in that state. that was the answer i was looking for from this post

IMO, based on your description, the car isn’t worth even close $20k USD here in the U.S.

That does seem like a lot of money for that kind of condition. I only recently bought my rx7 in Canada mind you but you can find much better condition for that money with a little patience

20k is a lot. But its hard to find a running FD for under 15k in california at least. Maybe somewhere in between? I bought mine salvage title with a little bit of work needed for 13k but that was 2 years ago if I remember correctly. I sold a blown motor and turbo one in nor cal for about 10.5k that needed electrical, paint, and interior work also. So FD are just not cheap in general.
