FD cooling system...not relieving pressure?

Is the FD cooling system pressurized? Because it seems its my radiator isn't sucking new coolant from the coolant reservoir and the AST doesn't relieve the pressure *has a new pressure release cap* unless i unscrew it slightly then it sucks all the bubbles out like it should.

Is there any way to re-pressurize? Hopefully this is making sense otherwise I'll take video today.:wallbash:

What about the AST cap?

But failing an issue with the cooling system, it sounds like you should start running tests for coolant seal failure.

if its the seals.. than my worst nightmare has come..and i just bought and have had it for a month :icon_no2: It doesn't overheat..or leak or anything. I bought a 16 psi AST cap like everyone on the forums said in the cooling threads. I need to get the car up on stands to see if any of the lines are broken or clogged. Maybe even flush my radiator. And I also read that the stock AST has a tendency to fail.

I also went to MazdaTrixxx and described the problem. They said worst case scenario is that its a coolant seal..but they said it seems like its the caps and the system needs to regain pressurization. Of course they didn't tell me how to do it...and I'm broke from buying my dream car

Replace both caps (the AST cap and the coolant filler neck cap shown in the following link):

For me, I derailed my throttle body coolant line years ago. Even then, I never used that approach to fill coolant. I squeeze the coolant radiator hoses as I fill. This pushes the coolant through and pushes the air back out through the filler neck. 1. Top off the coolant and use a funnel on sitting on the filler neck.

If there is room left in the engine block, the level will go down to the bottom of the filler neck and will need more coolant.
3. Keep doing 1 & 2 until when you squeeze the hoses, the level doesn't change.
4. Start the car and take it for about a 10 minute drive. Turn the heater on full during the drive.
5. Let the car cool and then start at step #1 again.
6. After one or two passes, the coolant should eventually stay full.

If you have problems after that, then you might have a bigger issue.

Replace the coolant caps and then follow the above procedure. See if you still have a problem.

I must caution you about statements like these. FDs are notorious for being bad used cars, and the sellers will intentionally or unintentionally feed you bad information. I verify everything myself.
