FD Compression test in Toronto
Hi! I bought a 1993 FD last year and I love it.
I was interested in getting a compression test for reference, and I took it to a dealer (Westowne Mazda) who tried, but they realized they couldn't because their OBD1 tester hadn't been used in 5 years and it no longer worked. I called around and other dealers were in a similar situation. I looked on the forums here and most of the input was from over 5 years ago. Any recommendations for getting a copmression test done? Where do people service their FDs around Toronto? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...984681e821.jpg |
If you're mechanically competent enough to change your own spark plugs, you can buy one of these babies and do the compression test yourself...
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...c19f6d624.jpeg The vendor is on this forum, look him up. He often runs discounts on these, typically costs about $285 (shipped in the US). Not sure if he ships to Canada but it wouldn't hurt to ask. BTW, I've been playing with rotaries since the mid-'80s and just bought one of these a few months ago - don't know how I lived without it, great tool, easy to use and quality construction. |

Finally did my compression test using the Rotary Compression Tester. Super impressed with the product. High quality, worked exactly as expected, all great. I spent some time researching the process, and then it only took me an hour to do. For reference, this was the best instructional video I found.
