fd alignment question
 

I had an alignment done on my 94 rx7 today. the right rear toe was out of tolerance at 1.24 degrees in, with the toe adjusted full out. the mechanic told me it is the toe adjustment link and/or the bushings and I should replace the assembly. the link with bushings is upwards of $300 for stock parts while the bushings are around $60 a piece. the link looks to be in pristine condition, I am wondering if these bushings are commonly known for going bad and I could simply replace the bushings or if I should replace the assembly as a whole. assistance would be appreciated thank you.

It's not chronic, but those bushings do wear out over time. I think it's the outer heim-joint end of the toe-links usually wear-out first, but both ends can be replaced. In my experience they usually make at least a little noise too. I'm not a suspension expert, but that seems like alot of deviation for just worn bushing(s) though.

So it would be huah of me to replace the link assembly with bushings. I found a pair on mazdatrix for $230 which is a lot cheaper than anywhere else I have looked. Anyone know if these are worth it ?

You'll notice that in the stock toe-link, one end is isolated in rubber to reduce NVH some. I think those replacement toe-links with heim-joint/pillow-ball bushings at BOTH ends will tend to be a little harsher but function just fine. Not sure what prices are in Germany, but here it would probably be about the same to purchase those Mazdatrix toe-links as it would to replace the four OEM bushings in your stock toe-link with new. It's your choice.
