Fc weird engine problem

so ive had 2 cases of this weird problem idk if theyre related or not. First issue was the day i got the car i stopped at a car show on my way home and when i went to leave the car wouldnt go over 2000rpm and trying to would make the car bog down really bad but after about 5 minutes it ran just fine. The second time was after i had removed the air box to test fit an adapter plate to run a pod filter. I had removed everything after the afm, and once i had the plate all mocked up and ready for a filter i put the airbox back on but forgot to put the hose that goes to what looks like the ac compressor and i also didnt put back on the intake peice that goes over the radiator area. But when i went to go to get the pod filter from my friends house i had problems. The car drove just fine for about a minute but then would shut down about ever 20 seconds. Id start it up again it would run just fine and then i would take off and then it would just die, or i would turn it on let it idle and i would just die, weather i stayed in 1st stayed stationed at idle or tried to get into 2nd the car would die after a short time. I popped the hood and noticed that pipe going to the ac wasnt connected so i connected that and it didnt change anything. So i made my way back home. When i got home i reinstalled that other peice of the intake and it didnt help either. So i let the car sit for about 5 mins while pondering the problem and went back and the car ran just fine, nor probs at all. Anyone have any ideas? Cuz i dont want something like this to happen when im like 100 miles from home or anything. Its an 86 glx na

It wouldn't be a bad idea either if you took the voltage readings from the relevant ECU pins as stated in the FSM ( fuel and emissions control section).
