FC stuck seals or springs - lost compression - from sitting in storage?
Has anyone experienced stuck seals or springs from just sitting over time? Here's the short of it....
90 FC Turbo Engine Kept in garage in GA Haven't driven car in 6 years I cranked to circulate fluids first 3 years 3 years ago, the engine still idled great I travelled a lot and let go the routine cranking Car sat for 3 years without cranking Now.. the rear rotor shows zero compression. The front rotor shows one good pulse. Have tried several tricks to crank the car and loosen the seals. It acts like blown motor, but it's just been sitting in my garage and previously ran great. Any similar experiences out there? |
probably just carbon buildup. get some marvel mystery oil(MMO). pull the top plugs and get some of it in there as u turn the engine then let it sit over night. when it does start it's going to smoke like a freight train. do a search for it and see what u come up with. i've never used it myself but have read bout it. i've use ATF in the past.

I guess the carbon buildup was sufficient that it just "cured" hard after sitting for three years. The engine only had 10-15k miles on it. Word to the wise, crank your car once a month. Don't let it sit for long periods if the engine is not new. Hated to have to tear it down. Glad no damage. |

If a car is to be stored, then it needs to be stored properly: How To Store Your RX-7 However any long term storage is going to be problematic. |
