FC Key/Ignition Issue?

I did a search, but couldn't find anything. When I take my key out of the ignition after I'm done driving, it is REALLY hot. Now, to be fair, I don't have A/C so everything in the car is hot. This seems unusually hot though. Hotter than keys I've pulled out of other cars (non-7s), like those keys aren't hot at all.

Do I have some kind of electrical problem, where voltage is running through the key, heating it up?

Is there heat coming from somewhere, exhaust, engine, I don't know... that's transferring up the steering column?

WTF is going on in there?! :)

What a weird problem. You can take the cover off of the steering column and inspect the ignition wiring. But I'd expect some other problems to pop up if something was shorting through the cylinder. The exhaust is on the opposite side of the car, so I can't see how that could be related.

This happens to me when I park my car in the sun in Arizona. The metal lock cylinder heats up, and heats the ignition switch up, so it holds heat pretty well. Does it do the same thing while driving at night?

I know it seems like a really lame answer, but its exactly what happens to me.

i would check what he says see if it does it at night too if it gets hot then you got a problem if it doesnt then its just the sun and your in luck its an easy fix.. just park under a tree :icon_tup:

Checked last night after driving home from work. I guess the lame answer is the right one this time. :)
