FB exhaust help

I Have an 85 GS and need a new exhaust. I only need from the block to the muffler section. From my understanding in NC, I only need 1 cat, so my question is- if I get a header, is there a set up from that point to the last section with the muffler? Looking around on the various parts sites, it is very confusing. This needs to be legal, so no option to delete the cat. Thanks

Sounds to me like you need something like this from Rx7.com

If your midpipe is gone (rusted out) you'll need to have a real muffler shop weld pipe in its place. You can put a 2" Magnapack there if you really want to mellow your tone.

That is exactly what I needed, thanks. The mid pipe is rusty, but going to try and bead blast and ceramic coat. Thoughts on wrapping the entire exhaust to keep the heat out of the cabin?

No.
