Welcome to the board.

Just so I'm understanding this ... (1) the car started, (2) you left it running, (3) it shut off by itself, (4) it won't restart? Is that it?

Is it cranking at all?

If it is ...
1. might be flooded

If it's not ...
1. starter or loose ground
2. main fusible link

Check the driver's side strut tower and locate the fusible links. It sounds like you lost the main. You can replace them with
Bussman FLF-type fuses Bussman FLF-type fuses
. I would advise replacing all 3 at the same time. I can't remember the ratings (amps) you actually need once you convert it from the resistances listed.

Also, I'll link this thread with the one you started in the Gen 1 forum, and close this one.
