Exhaust Manifold Stud Kit

Just picked up a FD and beginning the tear down and after removing the manifold I noticed the nuts were different sizes and the studs are in pretty bad shape. Does anyone switch over to a stainless stud kit from say ARP, or any other quality brand... or does everyone generally stay with new OEM studs/nuts?

Thanks,
Brandon

you can take them out and replace them with another stud if you wish.

I'm available..after I service Melanie,Sophia and Alexandra..(hahahaha!..I made a "stud Joke")
..you can get those at a good Auto part store or the Dealership.(nothing special about them, but they are metric)

Haha!

Yeah I know I can replace them as I've already pulled them out. I just didn't know if a Stainless steel stud/nut kit from ARP or any other respectable brand is worth while or if anyone uses them?

I know in some applications, such as my Evo IX, the exhaust manifold studs are offered from ARP but no one really uses them as they tend to have issues and constantly need re torquing so everyone just uses new OEM units. Didn't know if that was the case here.

I doubt ARP makes a kit listed as "RX-7 exhaust manifold stud" but they are just M10 x 1.5 so I'm sure you can just get an ARP generic kit. Or from the local fastener store.

Yes your correct, ARP does not make a "RX7" pre made kit.... But sometimes vendors will buy, create, and sell a kit for specific cars.

I appreciate the specific info on the thread size/pitch. I'll most likely try putting together a SS kit and see how they work.

I remember reading somewhere that the stock studs for the FD are inconel which is a superalloy. They are very very good. Contact Ray Crowe for a set.

Far as I know the stock studs are just steel. At least they certainly rust up and break like steel.

word is the housing to exhaust manifold stud is made of inconel. DO not use anything but Mazda OEM. That's the word in other threads on this forum. True or not? Not really sure.
