Engine Swap

Hey everyone I currently have a 1980 RX7 with the 12a engine in it but I found the shell of a 1988 RX7. I was wondering if the 12a would fit in the body of a 1988. I'm sure it will but I just want to be 100% positive before I go and buy it. If anyone could help me with this question it'd be greatly appreciated.

Wouldnt be worth my time. Better off selling the FB and buying an FC.

Well I would but I'm tight on money right now I was just looking to switcj bodies right now. The body for the one I have now is completely stripped so what I was looking at doing was getting the better body now then later getting a better engine.

It would probably cost more to swap the 12a into the FC chassis.

Well that sounds a lot more complicated than I initially thought. Looks like I'll be saving up for a new one Im just tired of the problems the constant porblems my 1980 body is giving me. The engine runs great it was rebuilt a little over a year ago the body is just trash.

If you're tired of problems, don't buy an RX-7. Just sayin...

The problems Im having are normal problems with an older car though. Like I said the engine is perfectly fine.

well the 12a is carbed and the 88 is an EFI based car,so if you can swap front covers on the engine to get it to sit in the engine bay and figure out how to power up the engine then by all means it will work.
The fuel would need to be addressed though as your engine would be overwhelmed with the 88's in tank hi pressure pump(about 35-40 psi normal for a running S4)..you need about 6psi to run that carbed engine.
