Engine Squealling?
OK so when it starts it squeals, then stops after warming up, but when i drive it sometimes squeal if i down shift. I ask a buddy of mine he said it could be the wheel bearing? But idk. Anyone had this problem?

Sounds like belts or a bad accessory bearing to me.
|
Need a little more info is it coming from the front, back, under the hood?
|

Does it only squeal when you drive it?
|
try turning your fan off when it starts and see if the squealing stops too
|
So have you checked the belts and accessories as I suggested?

Do you know how to measure for belt deflection? A chilton or haynes manual will be able to give you proper directions. But in the mean time you can try this.
http://books.google.com/books?id=F5g...age&q=&f=false You can also try a product called belt dressing. You put it on the belt and it is supposed to stop the belt squeal. But it will eventually wear off. If the dressing works, than it is safe bet that your belts are loose. Since you describe it only as squealing when you down shift or gas it, I am 99.99% sure your belts are loose. What car do you have? |
sounds to me like worn or loose belts
