Hey guys, I've had all my answers found except for a few using the search function. I've pulled out the s5 NA 13b from my 89 GXL and have the harness unhooked. My plan is to reuse the NA rotors in a s5 turbo irons/housing setup, aviation seals, etc. As you will see in the pics attached, the PO was a retard twisting wiring harness connections to the ECU.
Question 1. Can I solder these connections and re-use the harness? Many other places at the connectors look the same. 2. Will this NA harness work with the new s5 turbo sensors, etc. I know there will be minor modifications needed, i've just seen details about high impedance harnesses? 3. Can i send my NA ECU out and get RTEK programmed to make it run and adjust timing/fuel etc? 4. Will NA coil packs create enough spark for a turbo engine? Due to how particular i am with projects, I might just purchase another harness. And in this case, should i just go ahead and find (if i can) a turbo harness? will that still work on a NA RTEK ECU? 1) yes 2) yes, use S5 T2 injectors, they're the same plug/impedance wise 3) Run a T2 ECU (N370?) 4) All coil packs are N326. un#'d ?: Just repair that one, check continuity. It's easier to use an NA harness converted over to a T2 engine. Read this: Rotary Resurrection home of the budget rebuild. |

Again, I would caution you greatly about using the S5 NA rotors. They are a full 1.7 points higher on compression than the S4 TII rotors. You'll be building a lot of heat under boost and will need to run aux injection, a far more efficient turbo than stock (or keep the boost down), a big intercooler and very little timing with overly rich AF ratios to keep things reliable. And even then, few of these S5 NA-turbo engines seem to last very long. |
