Engine Fire
I ran my t2 with no exhaust and it caught on fire. We managed to put it put but se stuff still got melted. I recently just started it again an there was a massive fuel leak. A fuel hose that leass under the intake is badly burnt and cracked. My question is how to i remove the intake to get at this hose.

Some tips...
- Order a new upper-to-lower intake manifold gasket before you start. Don't use cheapie gasket goo. - Replace the fuel hose only with hose that is rated for fuel injection, such as SAE J30R9. - The fire may have been caused by the pulsation damper. http://mazdatrix.com/c-pulsation.htm |
Well... pulled the manni off and everything is melted. even half of an injector.. At this point i have no idea what to do. if my car is pooched or saveable. Gona go buy a new fuel hose , coolant and main vacuum plus abunch of little the little ones that i have no idea where they go or there purpose. Are they all import for the car to run or just emissions stuff? ill up load some pics of the carnage latter.

how long did it burn for? Any melted wiring harness? Fire also makes thing rust really quick. As long as it wasn't a mssive engine fire than burned for a long time, it might not be as catastrophic as you think.
It was burning for maybe 10- 15 min. It doesn't look like any wires were melted only a ground wire on bellhouseing, And some plastic connectors. I just spend 4 hours today cleaning all the fire extinguisher stuff off . And Spayed everything down with wd40. Nothing metal is chard black. Only the rubber and plastic . Im hoping that its just a matter of the new vacuum lines. A week after the fire i started the car no problem. Took it for a drive the break were terrible. And than parked it because of the fuel pouring out. So electrically i think its okay |

http://Attachment 659428 Where do those 2 vaccume lines go ?. And can i just plug off the cold start system? |
If you plan on starting it again, you better premix until you replace your oil injection lines.

Yeah this was an old photo! I got new oil lines but thanks haha.

will the engine run correctly..NO. the N/A injectors are 460cc..the TII injectors are 550cc. Let's put it this way..You eat every day,3 meals a day. Let's change that to every other day..and one meal a day.. would you "operate" the same? Just a friendly Tip.You had this happen to you as you were in a hurry,Half assing things just to get the car going. If you use a little Patience in alleviating the problem,it will be done correctly so this won't cause you any more trouble. This means going through ALL the stuff that looks questionable and replacing it.This would be the wiring, injectors, hoses,Parts and so on.Replace the parts with the correct ones.If not your project will not be successful. |
