Engine compression

Im thinking about purchasing this 13b rew for my project. He sent me the compression test he did on the motor outside of the car. Im a little concerned with the one rotor reading with a middle number of 94. To me, that sounds like an apex seal going bad, but im really new to the rotary world. Please, any advice or thoughts on whether these are good compression numbers or not, will be greatly appreciated and useful. |
If it runs fine then it still has some life left but that is definitely a good candidate for a rebuild. If you buy it, buy it with the intention of rebuilding it very soon. With casual driving, you could probably get another year out of that safely.

Thank you cr-rex, I kind of figure as much. he sent me pictures of the motor saying it was missing just a flywheel, but it was missing the whole turbo section, water pump pulley, and a bunch of other shit. scam.. I'm just going to pay more for a motor from a licensed business. piece of mind is worth its weight in gold.

Well, usually most people sell the keg and maybe with the front cover. It's hard and expensive some times to find a whole engine. I wouldn't call it scam unless he told you compete engine with turbo chargers.

Yeah it was a scam. I asked if it was complete and he told me it was just missing the flywheel. He sent picture and it was missing half of the pulkeys, oil pump, and the whole turbo section was missing. I ended up buying a complete swap from a lcensed importer. Happy with the condition and all six faces had equal conpression. Ill know more once i get the turbos off and get a peek of the inside. |

the first one i was looking at was through ebay. the engine i purchased came from Chicago JDM in Franklin Park Chicago. 1-847-288-0536 I'm happy with the engine. a little ATF and TLC, and the engine looks beautiful inside. he gets an REW almost every month, but also has 2jz's and RB's at his shop. |
