Engine bay paint & prep
 

Hi everyone. So I've recently finished pulling my blown motor from my 92 Type R and am in the process of replacing it with a crate motor. While the motor's out I decided to clean out the bay as best as I could. Under all the grime there is a lot of paint missing and a few spots of rust. Just wondering what its like to strip the bay back fully (will probably leave the harness) and have it resprayed. Is it worth the effort of removing all AC, PS and Braking systems to get the paint on? Or would I be better off just doing the spots with a colour match can? And if it is worth the effort, do you have any tips on removing said components? Thanks in advance guys.

Will you be doing the work yourself? Ultimately, I think it's worth the extra time and effort to do it right and get it over with. I wouldn't bother with what essentially comes down to patch-work. It will probably be a pain in the ass with much more work up front, but I think you will thank yourself down the line.

Yes I will be doing it myself except for the paint. I think I'll go for it and get it done now. Was really just checking to see if someone would say "don't do it because ____" ... "15 hours later..." or something alike. I'm going to try and follow the usdm fsm a bit but somethings can get a bit confusing with the obvious differences to the braking and steering system's. Too bad I can't read hiragana :ponder:

You either have enough time to do it right "the first time". Or, you make enough time "to do it over"......

100% agree with everyone's input! Its so tempting with the motor sitting in the garage waiting to go back in, but nonetheless, I will take my time and do it right the first time. Anyone reading this done the same? Anything that I need to look out for when removing these components? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
