Dual exhaust conversion.

So I was talking a a friend, and I think im going to convert my 1989 SC3S GTUs to a dual exhaust. It has a straight pipe exhaust right now. Which is better? what kind of price range am I looking at? Also, what would be the best company to go through.

Thanks!

To cut a long story short, there is no "better".

Single is lighter, but it's going to be louder and it makes the car look broken.

Double is heavier, but since you can have twice the amount of mufflers you can be quieter with the same flow (why Mazda went that direction) and it keeps the car balanced.

For a quality exhaust system like Racing Beat, the prices start at $800.

I prefer dual for the muffling capabilities myself. Rotary is an amazing sound, but it transcends amazing to irritating quickly, depending on volume.

Thats the thing, mine is straight piped, and VERY loud. So I think the dual might be better for me and I think it looks better.

Also, whats a good site for cool dual kits?

For non-turbo street cars, I like the Racing Beat products, or if you prefer a louder exhaust then the Apexi N1 Dual catback with 90mm tips. I do not recommend "turbo" exhausts (for example, the Apexi 115mm) because they are too loud when there is no turbine wheel to soak up some of the noise, and their tubing diameter is usually too large and causes a slight power loss.
