Drift FC Self Steer question
 

Hello,

Was just wondering for anyone who drifts their FC whether turbo or N/A if they have any trouble with self steering while drifting. I seem to be consistently fighting my wheel when making transitions.

To describe it, my FC doesnt really self steer at all, I have to fight the wheel to get the car to do what I want it to do. The wheel doesnt really glide through my hands when I am making transitions, I really have to 'flick' and 'man handle' my steering wheel while drifting.

Some info on my car/ front suspension/ steering:

S5 N/A with some sort of port on it
MK2 MR2 electronic power-steering pump
Cut Knuckles
Rack spacers
Extended outer tie-rod ends
Stock rack
Stock LCA

Any information helps that can resolve this issue for me. I've seen a few videos and people that I know who have FCs and their cars self steer way better and they have similar mods to mine.

A good place to start would be an alignment. A simple toe-adjustment might make the world of a difference. What does your alignment look like?

I don't drift my FC but some of these other guys may be able to straighten you out with a solid drift alignment.

There are parts to lock-out the rear steering on the FC's. I forget the name but when the bushings start to go back there lots of guys replace that passive steering piece with a solid connection. That and a good drift alignment (as he said ^^^) might give what your looking for.

Should've mentioned my alignment setup.
Front Camber set to -4 degrees both sides
Front Toe-out set to 0.5 degrees
No caster adjustment

I know exactly what bushing you are mentioning for the rear steer delete. I have them from PartShopMax just haven't gotten around to installing them, waiting for a nice day to do my new coilovers and that all in one shot.

But do you think the rear steer would have something to do with the front end not self steering while drift? Cause it doesnt even do it at all if im driving the car around town.

I don't know. I've never had an FC but a friend did and used those "Rear Steer Eliminator Bushings" from Mazdatrix. I think he said the rear felt squirrelly part way through a turn with the old rotten bushings. Put the solid ones in and it was more predictable.
