Does the 1988 rx7 require warming up before driving

Do I have to warm up any rx7 before driving or can you do it short shifting?

Thanks

welcome to the board. :)

i guess the answer is yes and no.

if you mean, do you have to sit and wait until it warm before driving it, then no. you can get in and start driving right away, however, you will want to take it easy with the revs until it is up to temp though. set your limit to about 4000 RPM.

You can get in and drive it normally like Diabolical says until it's warm, then you can drive it hard if you want. I usually wait until the temp gauge is at operating, plus 5 minutes for the oil to warm up (since I don't have a gauge to tell me when it's warm) before flogging it.

I warm up everything I drive. It’s a good habit to get into if you like taking really good care of your cars.

Absolutely sound advice! I start the car and look for leaks, check for body damage, listen for weird sounds, inspect the engine bay (aka admire), and talk to ramdom bystanders commenting on the weird smell coming from my car or the "iS tHiS a vIpEr'...or better yet "nIcE mIaTa"...but I digress. It's a good habit to get into, even if it isn't absolutely "mandatory".
