Distributor Cap

Hey everyone,
I did some searching and couldn't come up with a definitive answer,
I've heard replacing a distributor cap that's nice and broken in can cause issues.
It already have to replace sparks plugs and figured I'd do wiring set and dist cap while I'm at it. Has anyone run into any issues or am I pretty safe putting the new one in. All parts as of now are original and 35 years old.
Thanks

Corey

whoever told you a cap and rotor gets "broken in" needs a mental check, new for those parts should be as good as it gets.

now if you were to get a cheap crappy aftermarket set, they could in fact work worse than a set of worn out parts. we all know how bad some parts suppliers can be with quality control. some people draw their own conclusions of weird circumstances and then speak of their theory as truth.

Thanks!
The idea of anything 35 years old in a car being better than a new replacement seemed crazy to me. But better get as many answers as I can. This is my first time getting myself into anything car/engine related so I don't want to screw anything up.

Corey
