Coolant warning light keeps turning on
Hi.
I just got a FM inter cooler in my FD. for some reason I was driving the other day and my coolant warning light and sound went on. My temperature gauge stay in normal but the first time it happen a lot of steam came out. Now when i start the car after 10 minutes the coolant warning light comes back on even though i check the coolant and it is full. Does any one have any idea what may be causing this? |
check the coolant temp sensor. Could be a loose connection, coolant leak on the sensor threads, or maybe you didn't burp the system properly...

Any suggestions how to burp the system? Thanks |
I burp the system but the coolant warning light still went on, does the coolant temp sensor is bad or the thermostat?
Thanks |
The coolant light goes off whenever the sensor is not grounded by being submerged in coolant. Check the coolant level first on the radiator cap, then on the fill cap above the water pump. The system is "burped" by squeezing all of the radiator and heater core hoses to loosen any air bubbles. Finally the overflow reservoir should be filled.
If you still get the coolant light after this, check the sensor while the car is running to see if it is leaking. If the sensor checks out, you have a wiring problem. |

In That mod just the hose that is below the cap will go o the reservoir and the one that is coming from the bottom of the radiator have to be blocked? |
How exactly did you remove the AST? Post a pic of what you did to circumvent the AST.
Also, read the various coolant system threads in the 3rd gen fAQ thread in this forum. That should teach you everything you ever wanted to know about the FD's cooling system. :) |
I had the same problem the other day. I found the sensor wires where pulled out of the main harness under the airbox. good luck.

This is where an Air lift kit is a very helpful tool. Well worth the 125 bucks I spent on it.

Im going to suggest like the othes may have and bleed your coolant system.
