Constant 12v for dash cam?

Hello all,

S5 GXL

have a dash cam with motion sensor and wanted to hook it up to a constant 12v, but I couldn't find one with a multi-meter under the driver side foot fuse panel. Was just gonna make a wire directly form the battery but figured the club would know.

Is there any constant 12v from the fuse panel I could tap?

Is there already a wire around there I could tap? if so, what color

Should i just make a wire from the battery directly?

Thanks for the read.

I'm quite certain there is. The slot in this image which I circled orange should provide a constant 12V. I can confirm that the one on the right is indeed switched since that's what powers my wideband. A typical "spade" connector should fit snugly in those slots. Test both with a voltmeter before you do any wiring though.

Be sure to add the proper fuse and relay.

Your image is from a FD, the OP needs one for a FC. They're likely different.

Assuming your Vic pushes standard US power specs, if you have a cigarette lighter, you can find what fuse it is on the car. Then get a new fuse with an additional power wire coming off it to wire in the power for your camera.

Can use something like this:

Vague answer but hope that helps.

@ Mr357 yea that's for a FD, but i did try to find something like that on the FC. No luck

@ Azteclance will do, thanks

@ millyactual Thanks, but i currently have it powered by that but it is not a "Constant Power" so it wont turn on when the car is off. and yes, i have these attached to something called "Power Magic Pro" which is supposed to stop the battery from getting to low when the car is off but the camera running.it needs a constant power source to run when off though. I won't be installing the Power Magic anymore now.

I will just cough up the extra hundreds for a external battery for it to run off. run a direct wire from the battery. It will charge when the car is running and will power the camera when the car is off. Plus that i don't trust running a wire directly form the battery for that weak looking "Power magic pro"
