Compression Changes

How dramatically can compression change with occasional/light driving? My FD is garage kept and I only run it lightly (20-50 miles) each week. Had it almost 2 years and just wanted to know if compression can change dramatically.

scrape a piece of steel on another and see if you get any wear..over time.

That is essentially what a seal is doing every rotation..wearing down.

Over time it will lose some compression but there are many factors that come into play too...like Lubrication, seal material, condition of the internals(old or new),fuel grade, burn of the fuel...etc,etc.

This all comes down to maintenance and if the engine sees proper maintenance then you can have a happy engine.
Contrary to popular belief rotary engines do not blow up when you look at them!

I knew that ESP couldn't make my rotors unhappy! I just knew it! LOL. Thank you for the info. I was just concerned if extended downtime in the garage could do a disservice to compression as much as raw mileage. This is the first FD ive ever owned, and with maybe 3k miles on it in almost 2 years, I didnt know how often I should get the compression checked...Thank you so much!

Just don't baby it when you do drive it. After warmed up, mash the go pedal to the floor at least once per outing.

proper storage is always good too,as the seals may tend to stick if the engine hasn't been rolled over and the seals compressed.
So,One of our esteemed colleagues has made up an informative site with tips!(Aaron Cake!)
