Complete S5 parts into S4 Shell
 

Hey guys I currently have a wrecked but complete S5, that had everything eletrical working as well as being a model with ABS.

Now as I want all the things to work again, and want as simple an engine swap as possible.

Would it be possible to swap my entire Series 5 wiring loom into a Series 4 chassis. Would this then make the engine plug and play?

I would also swap in the S5 dash so that the gauges would work.

Is this possible? Is it feasible?

Well,in Essence Yes,it would make the engine plug and play.
BUT you are looking at other factors here such as the dash wiring and even the connectors at the Fuel tank being different.So,pretty well you are stripping ALL the wiring out of one car to put it in the shell...HUGE pain in the ass for little gain.
IF it was me,I would put the S5 engine,BUT have the s4 front cover on it and the supporting parts for the S4 engine.
Swapping parts is easy,but when you get into wiring,then you have to be 100% Bang on,or else something isn't going to work.
At least with Mechanical parts you can track issues really quick.

Yeah I figured the fuel system would be one of the biggest obstacle.

But its the only way I see it being possible to transfer the ABS system across, as well as all the working electrical relays and what not.

Would it be possible to transfer just the front half of the loom? and then plug that into the S4 fuel pump etc? I imagine that wouldn't have changed between models?

The key here question for me now really is. Transferring all the wiring is yes an annoyance, but if I label everything diligently and take my time, itll be a tedious but not difficult process. Is that correct?

As when it comes down to it, I have time, but I dont have much mechanical know how.



I'll also note, I would only have acess to a complete series 5, and a Series 4 shell (no engine, low chance of a box)

So I wouldn't have the option of doing the flywheel and front cover trick to successfully use the S5 engine in the S4.

Swapping the loom isnt worth the effort. Not in the least. Swapping the engine and running a stand alone ecu for it, like a Haltech would be the simplest option. IMO

Would it be possible to transfer the front half of the loom, so from the dash forwards? I had working cruise control and working boost gauge, both these things are becoming less and less common. So I would love to just drop in my working wiring and modules
