coilover question??
 

I'd like to upgrade my suspension. My main use for this car is as a street car. maybe the occasional track day. I will be driving low. What are the best "bang for the buck" coilovers. Meaning cost effective yet quality. Please no k sport, D2, etc quality parts.

FC? FD? Tell us what you have so we can help...

Your profile lists an FD, if this is corrrect I recommend a Ground Control kit. It's quality hardware, allows adjustable height, your choice of spring rates and can be paired with any number of brands of shocks. I've been running a kit on my car for several years with no complaints.

I've also heard good things about Tein kits but have no direct experience.
I DO NOT recommend any set-up that has pillow-ball mounts. It's not needed/serves no purpose with the FD suspension and typically just adds alot of NVH for a streeted car.

Yes sorry 93 FD. What spring rates are recommended? My build style is a mix of function and form. Comfortable and soft yet one that performs well.

I think the OEM spring rate for the FD is 280/200 (lbs) So just maybe use that as reference. Everyone's tolerance/taste in stiffness is different but I'd stay as close to that ratio as possible. I'd also try searching over in the suspension section for more info.

I like BC racing

I've heard most domestic(US) brand coilover's are generally made by the same manufacturer over seas. they just have different color schemes and whatever spring rates they choose

I am currently running Tein Shocks/Tein Springs however I am in the market to upgrade to an adjustable coilover as well. After much searching on here/google I read that most people stay far away from Megan Racing Coilovers(obviously) and KSport which I have also read aren't that great.

I see alot of rx-7 owners are using the BC Racing BR type coilovers and it is mostly described as a great product for the price and gets the job done on most street cars/occasional track day vehicle. At the end of the day I suppose it really comes down to what you will be using your rx-7 for and what your budget is. Another nice option is the custom setup with the ground control springs and the Koni or Tokico shocks or something of the like. After browsing alot of websites I see alot of coilover systems in comparison in price with the BC's such as Fortune Auto, Apexi, and the Basic Tein's. I also read alot of good things about the Pettit Racing Coilovers which the basic and stage 1's are around 1300 or so.

ever hear of a company called fortune auto their product looks good and its not too expensive. I am gonna try those out when I get the money.
