clutch has no pressure
 

so i stared bleeding out my clutch because the pedal feels like it has no pressure. after i crack it loose the pedal stays on the floor and i have to pull it up and pump once or twice more to get it to come up on its own and now ive bled all the old fluid out and it still feels very light, any ideas??

If there is a load of air in the system, it is not unusual for the pedal to stick to the floor a few times during bleeding. The RX-7 clutch pedal does tend to feel light compared to other cars.

Did you just get the car or have you had it for a while? You may just not be used to the feel of the clutch.

Of course, if the clutch was fine and then just got soggy, then replace all the hydraulics and hoses.

if u bleed all the pressure off with the pedal on the floor, it will stay on the floor.

this happened to me when i got a new trans and clutch put in....
I believe the throwout bearing wasnt positioned right.....

did you bleed it correctly?....

make sure you have some one helping u depress the pedal while releasing pressure..

do u leak fluid?

yea i just got the car but it felt spongy when i bought it it didnt slip or anything so i figued it was air or something. well i was hoping haha. i bled it corectly i had my friend pump the pedal for me. i didnt get to drive it after i bled it as it is not registered yet but i guess ill wait ant see gettin that done tomorrow

I had the same problem when i bought my '84 GS..found out that the 25 year old line had a pin hole in it near the slave cylinder..check to see if that is wet...if is cheap to replace..i paid 13$ for a quick replacement...also make sure that the clutch master cylinder isn't leaking either..had to rebuild BOTH slave and master for good pressure..after clutch line and rebuild kits it set me back $45...whoo-hoo :( Just check...cant hurt much just looking?

yea it seems to work ok, i just feel like the pedal would have more resistance maybe the clutch is just really light.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I have a '79 rx7 and the clutch is very very light compared to the car I learned stick on ( '63 Ford Galaxie 500). Compared to the galaxie, the rx7 clutch has absolutely no resistance. I haven't had any problems with shifting though.

the pressure plate is what determines how much effort is needed to push the pedal.

did you try checking the slave? I had the same problem and my slave was shot. the pin wasnt engaging. havent had a problem since.

I'm having a problem with mine myself , I think its the line.

You can get a nice stainless steel braided line from corksport for $20 , if that doesn't fix my problem I'll go ahead and replace the slave as well.
