Clutch fluid flush
 

Hello everyone, I realize there are plenty of how-to threads on this already but was wondering if I need to worry about my clutch fork "disengaging" during a clutch fluid flush?
My plan was to follow the fsm and 1) suck out the old fluid with pump or turkey baster 2) refill with new fluid 3) attach hose to bleeder plug with one end in a container partly filled with fluid 4) loosen the bleeder screw while someone pumps the clutch to drain the fluid 5) keep pumping until clean fluid is draining without bubbles while keeping the reservoir filled with new fluid 6) closer bleeder screw 7) top off reservoir to max level with new fluid.
Afterwards I was going to flush the brake fluid as well. I had heard the clutch fork or rod or something can become misaligned so that the pedal no longer returns up after you push it down. Is there something to do to prevent this or am I worrying for nothing? I'm not replacing the clutch or anything like that just the fluid. I must've read 15 threads about this but just don't want to screw something up.

You are waaaaay over thinking this. It's a 30 year old car with a basic hydraulic clutch system. Bleed the clutch as normal, the pumper will have to pull the pedal up until pressure builds, nothing out of the norm.

Yeah that's what I figured. I think those other issues only came up when the clutch itself was replaced and something got out of alignment. Thanks for the help

Clutch fork will be unaffected. I could see the rod from slave cylinder 'relaxing' enough to fall out of the fork's socket....maybe. Might be something to keep an eye on but easy enough to correct.
