Car won't start

hey guys I have a 91 rx7 13b turbo, yesterday when I started my car everything was fine, I didn't fully let it warm up cause I decided I wasn't going to go anywhere and I turned the car off, idk if that adds to it but now it won't start, even when I had a battery charger or a car hooked up it wouldn't turn over, any suggestions?

Could be a flooded engine. On your car you can depress the throttle pedal all the way w/key to start and it defloods the car. If this does not help make sure the fuses are good.

We need more details, the starter usually starts clicking and not turning over. Flod, it is the high possible answer. I have seen the stock alarm system not letting the car start.

Meant security system..

if I don't have the car hooked up then it won't even crank, it'll start getting weak and then clickafter a while

It's probably the starter; when the cars hooked up It doenst want to turn over but when it's not hooked up and it's by itself it does start clicking, could be a flood but I tried giving it gas when almost turning over and it just wouldn't

That happened to mine. I had a new high cranking amp battery and turned over often, but the starter began to click until never turned over again. I replaced the starter with the upgraded one and after 1 year its still good. Don't keep trying to start the car cause you can fold it. Replaced the starteries first.

replace your starter

So I got some new looks at it and they don't think it's the starter but probably the ignition switch, guess only way to find out is to take it the shop

satch 12-22-16 05:16 PM

Your issue could be the interlock switch. Located on the clutch pedal it has two wires running to it with one wire being Black/Red and the other is Black/Green. W/key to start the B/G wire should have voltage. W/the clutch depressed and key to start the voltage passes through the switch and now has power on the B/R wire which runs to the starter.

So apparently the car could have low compression because of the cold and I didn't turn it on every single day, might just have to sell my car to someone who would take care of her better

Red94fd 12-28-16 03:17 PM

Did you replaced your starter? I think low compression start to giving you problems when the engine is hot. If after a moderate drive you turn it off then about 2 minutes later you try to turn it back onand it doesn't turn fight on, either you have low compression or realy high modified engine or you problem is somewhere else. Did you do a compression test?

Red94fd 12-28-16 03:21 PM

Another thing some places they teste the starter on a bench with no load (flywheel attach to and engine), so I would ignore any opinion base on bench test on a starter

Ricardo Sorto 12-29-16 05:01 PM

I've had people look at it and they're convinced it's not the starter, but no I didn't change it yet and no compression test yet, I gotta see if what the damage is before I spend money

take your spark plugs out and check to see if they are WET.
It's one of the FIRST Things you do when you suspect the car not starting..and it DOES crank over just not cranking over enough.
The other is have a Fully Charged battery.
These cars will flood if you do not let them warm up..Example: starting the car moving it 20 feet and shutting it off can flood the car out.

Compression test is free

I have the same thing happen to my FD when i just want to move it in the garage in the winter. I usually can let it sit for 15 minutes and it will start up. Not sure if it is flooded or what.
