Can't start my new RX-7/ Fueling issues??

So to start off, a slight back story. I bought my rx7 from someone who had bought it last year from another person that clearly restored it. The frame looks really solid but I've been having starting issues since I went to look at it before I bought it.

1. My friend and I had it running by spraying brake clean into the intake(I know its not ideal) before I bought the car. So we naturally assumed fueling issues.

2. Once I got it home I noticed that it can start for a moment but stalls out instantly if I give it gas or just stalls after running for a moment. Check number two for fueling.

3. There is a sensor that is disconnected that connects into the engine around the front housing plate on the bottom left (from the drivers perspective). I cant for the life of me figure out what this sensor is. Its long, has two leads on it and has a nut pattern in the middle for installation and removal.

4. Once I start it once and it stalls I cannot start it again for quite a long time.

Hopefully this is enough information, its my first time diagnosing problems with this car so any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Let's start with what year the car is. From there we can better help you.

Sorry should have absolutely lead with that! It's a 1985 GSL,-SE. From what I can tell a previous owner was atempting to restore it completely. There is alot of good with this car but it was still a backyard restoration.

Here is a picture of the disconnected sensor. The pervious owner had an alligator clip on it connect to a now loose wire.

Are you talking about the black w/yellow stripe wires? Those aren't supposed to connect there. I believe they run back to the starter. Or frame near the starter. Sorry but I'm not gonna crawl under it right now just to check, but they aren't supposed to connect to the AC mounting bosses. Also not sure about that spark plug looking wire right above those.... I dont have that.

I mean this little guy right here, directly under the ground bolt. It was connect previously by alligator clips but the guy wanted to keep his clips.

It was connected to this wire in the picture above. To me it seems like a engine temp sensor or maybe oil temp sensor. But now I'm at a loss of what to search for.

I'm changing my fuel pump and filter today since I know thoes can be problem areas. I was hoping this sensor would solve some of my problems tho, since it seems like its running in some kinda of limp/auto shut off mode to prevent damage. Maybe cutting the fuel?
