Brakes Problem

ight so my 1988 rx7 fc is having some brake issues. when i step on the brakes they are very weak. when im driving i can step on my brakes all the way and my car will only slow down and not stop. There is also no pressure when i press down on my brake. im not sure if its my brake pads or my break lines or some rx7 problem yet.
thanks

Sounds like a master cylinder

or a leak? or brake fluid is low? or it was low & air got in the system? for sure it is more than just the pads...no pads might not stop you but you would hear and feel something.

The brake systems in RX-7s are not special or unique. Just your everyday hydraulic system - with vacuum power assist, if equipped. Any brake shop should be able to diagnose the problem if you can't.

but, dude, if you're driving around san jose in a car with almost no brakes, i'm glad i'm driving somewhere else. get it fixed or stop driving it before you wreck and hurt someone.

check the master cylinder's fluid level.
then jack the car up and look for any signs of leakage.
it does sound like a bad master though.

can anyone point me to a DIY link for rx7. cant seem to find any about master cylinder.

I'm having the same problem, check for leaks and if none replace the master. I picked one up from Advance Auto Parts for like $30 + a core charge. For the DIY I think the Haynes manual tells you? Perhaps?

Haynes manual...or download the factory service manual from foxed.ca or rotaryheads.com
