Brakes - master cylinder question

1979 RX-7: Does anyone have a picture of the proper plumbing of the proportional valve that sits attached to/beside the brake master cylinder? The problem is that the front brakes don't want to release. I have a new master cylinder to install but the plumbing on the proportional valve does not make sense as it is. Thanks in advance:icon_tup:

I don't know if there is a difference between your 79' and my 85', but here is my proportional bypass valve. The bottom two lines are connected to the master. The top right goes to the front passenger side (there is a "F" symbol on mine) and the top left line goes back to the rear brakes. The front drivers side connects to the master.

Good luck.

front brakes not releasing is usually a sign the front calipers need rebuilding/replacing. i've never had that valve go bad.

RE: front calipers

Thanks, guys. NAPA shows no new calipers available but rebuild kits at $5.02 each. Is there anything special I should know to not screw up the works rebuilding my own?

Thanks for the picture. If yours is right and it works, so is mine and that should not be the problem. I got my car used and somewhat modified so I'm not sure if some of the improvements are an improvement. It has an Atkins rebuilt engine which seems strong and does not use oil excessively. I moved the drivers seat back about three inches so I can drive the car without having to open the door to run the clutch (I'm 6'4" tall). I get gas/exhaust fumes in the cabin so my next project is the exhaust header gasket. Suggestions?

get as much advice as possible before rebuilding your self as they can easily be wrecked by wrong rebuild if you are not experienced
