Blue smoke on startup
Hi all, I recently acquired a 93 fd rx7 single turbo, PFC ECU, Greddy Profec Bspec boost controller, stock rebuild about 10k miles ago, chassis has about 104K. I was told by the seller that the cause of the blue smoke at startup was due to the idle air control value. The rpms at startup range from about 750-950. When heated about 10 mins or so the smoke is no longer and the rpms @ idle is about 1000. My question is, if the IACV was replaced would that most probably resolve the issue? Also, can this value be clean?

my car had the same issue! The previous owner premixed oil into the gas. Mine smokes on start up but when it warms up no more smoke! I added more gas to the mixed gas and oil in my car and it must have evened it out, because there isn't any smoke at all! Just something to think about!

Are you having rough idle issues? Yes you can remove and clean the IAC valve. Verify that the IAC solenoid is within the specified ohm range (see the FSM section F). Im not convinced your IAC Valve is contributing to your blue smoke start-up issue.Typically, this is caused by excessive oil burn from the turbos or from a leaky oil seal within the rotor housing.
