beating a dead horse with a supercharger
Here goes. I am very familiar with fabrication as we do it on a daily basis soi thats not a problem. I know my way around building American hotrods and engines. I have had this secret closet facination with rotaries ever since OI heard a bridgeport 13b at a car show. That Brap Brap drew me in like a moth to a flame. A good friend of mine gave me a stack of 12a rotaries as he used to SCCA Pro Solo with a 1985 RX7.In the stack is a brand new 12a that was taken apart and had carbon apex seals put in. This is a oem brand new factory engine, not a rebuild. I also have a nice m90 supercharger off a thunderbird super coupe. In my stack of spares there are a few Racing Beats intakes. I am thinking of fabbing a manifold to bolt to the lower RB manifold and running a holley 600cfm carb. I did some research here on this forum and the info seems to be widespread between good and bad on running a supercharger with carbon apex seals. My question is with a supercharger running 8 to 9 psi what would happen to the carbon seals and how long would they last. would I be better off taking this 12a back apart and using diffferent apex seals that would hold the boost? If so what apex seals would be best and while I am in there would a street port be better than a bridgeport with a supercharger. This car is Das Speedster and it is basically a weekend cruiser and going to lunch at the pizza lace 3 miles from my shop.
