autocross near MI
 

whats the closest place for autocross racing near MI or is there a place in MI cause all im finding is cirlcle tracks and drag strips

Where in Michigan are you? If you are on the West side, then I can hook you up. Check out http://furrin.org/ That is our local club, and we do plenty of races each year. There is also a sticky thread for autocross dates in the Midwest section, so check that out too.

Sweet! Dead center for everything that is happening. :) You can head toward Detroit for a more "serious" experience (they are quite serious, everything runs on a schedule down to the minute. Quite impressive actually), or you can head my direction for a more laid back experience.

Our club (Furrin Group) takes very good care of beginners, but we also have some very serious competitors. We race hard, but make sure everyone has a great time while we're doing it.

Our club does 2 2-day events at MSU each year.

Also, for races around the Grand Rapids area (especially 2 day events), I usually offer camping at my place (great bon fire parties). :)

This is a video from our annual 4th of July weekend event. It was like 90 seconds of freeway on ramps (or off ramps, depending on your point of view). We will definitely be using this course layout again.

so how do you know which way your going it looks pretty confusing

They lay down some pylons to indicate which direction to turn, but mostly you just walk the course, walk the course, repeat about a dozen times. It gets easier (learning a course) with practice.

Here's a link to some info on getting started. Some of the stuff is oriented toward 1st gens, but most of it is general. Anyway, if you come over to our side of the state, we'll take good care of you and get you started off on the right foot.
