Auto X tire recommendations?
 

What would you guy suggest for a good tire that won't completely empty my wallet?

R-compound or street tire?

For streetable tires, the two listed above are excellent. Add the Bridgestone RE-01R to that list b/c it's on sale at TireRack.

If you want an R-compound, and you will not be driving them to/from events, I would shop around for a lightly used set of Kumho V710s. Serious road racers will use a set for two sessions and sell them off and these take-offs make for excellent autocross tires. They won't do the job for winning nationals, but they will go much faster than any street tire.

i can vouch for the Falken RT-615's great tire, thats what i'm running for autox this season and made a huge difference over my old yoko es-100's haha

I think it all depends on how much you want to spend and if you have a spare set of rims. I've always been fond of the Falken Azenis (curr model RT-615) it's cheap, gets the job done, delivers wet grip also but wears down pretty fast but for 70 bucks plus I guess it's what you pay for.

My plan on getting a second set of rims and throw some Toyo Proxes R1Rs, you can still use these in street touring categories and it still allows controll during wet conditions. These are about 100 bucks plus.

I'm running on Sumitomo HTR 200s, 215/50/13. Dirt cheap, and I'm doing alright. :) They're like 50 bucks each.

The new kumho XS is a very good tire and they are pretty cheap too.
