Another Idle problem thread (I searched)

Hi.

So i just bought a 86 Rx-7, and it got idle problems, and problems starting cold starting

Its surging on idle, and runs extremely low, 2-600 rpm, and often dies, most when cold.

And i have to give it some gas on the pedal when im starting it when its cold.

Looks like it gets too little fuel at idle. Anyone got suggestions?

Surging is a classic example of a broken or mis-adjusted TPS. That can cause idle issues as well.

But that it does not idle well when cold suggests that someone removed the cold start assist thermo actuator from the throttle body.

Been digging around in the engine compartment now, and there is some emission stuff missing.

Problem is that i dont konw what is missing, or what the missing stuff do.

And been looking at the TPS (Throttle Posission sensor, yes?) but cant find how to check or adjust it. Got a turbo, so the TPS is burried down under alot of stuff.

The TPS should be on the front of the throttle body. Square box with a plunger, three wires coming from it.

Search "TPS adjustment how to" for info on how to adjust it.
