american vs. jdm

i have heard that the jdm engines tend to have different parts than the cars that were imported to america. does this hold true with the rx engines? would the rebuild kits be the same? any intel helps

thanks

Internally they're all the same, but external emissions equipment differs along with some others things. It'll differ for 2nd gen, 3rd gen, etc...

Don't foget that "JDM" means that the used value is like 17 times higher, at least.

^This is wrong. And please don't post nonsense like this just to increase your post count.

To the OP:
In the case of FD, as mentioned earlier, the engine internals are identical. Externally the differences are usually associated with emissions, including wiring. But there are other small differences. Off-hand there were differences in water pump housings, the OMP and OMP injectors, turbos, intercooler piping and engine management... all changing over the years.
On a side note, it's been my observation that "routine maintanence" means something completely different in some asian countrys. So buying all that silly RHD JDM'ness can have unseen consequences.

same engines just emission bs and government controlled junk

S3 in USA came with a 13b and in JDMland it came with a 12a turbo... So yeah. There is differences. Obviously I pointed out one of the biggest.

Edit: I re-read the post and noticed your comparing engine parts, assuming the same engine. Kegs should all be somewhat similar. 13b's fall in three major categories: old 13b, new 13b, renesis 13b. See housing differences here: http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2n...g_differs.html Due to different engine mounts, watch out for compatibility with side/intermediate housings. Best to stay in series with these.
