Altering scrub FD scrub radius
 

Hey all, since the offset of the stock front wheels is +50, I was wondering if anybody could help me understand what the adverse effects of changing the offset to +38, thereby increasing the scrub radius. I've read several posts discussing this, but have yet to find hard numbers, and associated effects. The intended use of my car will be varied (street, auto cross, track, drift) and I'd like to make sure I don't adversely affect the stock design in any way. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I may be wrong but I thought stock offset was 40.
If you run 38 you should be ok.

You want to keep scrub radius, wheel centerline, and inside track as close to stock as you can. Not only will it scrub a lot, but it will upset the wheel bearing and other suspension geometry and components if you move the wheel too far out. The difference between 0 offset and 25 on a FC is huge. And fdd's are pretty sweet if you keep them happy.

I personally face palm when I see -80 rocket bunny and feel bad for the car.

Confirming, the off-set of the stock wheels (16x8) is +50. OEM tire size was 225/50. I'm not experienced enough to know the effects of +38 on scrub radius and handling.

Since you're asking this question, I'll assume you're changing wheels. Not specific to your question, but FWIW, I was running the stock wheels until two years ago. I'd been using 245/45s for the occasional autocross and street use. I felt a little quicker turn-in, which was fine for autocross. But I also ran a adjustable from sway bar and was playing with that at the same time...so I'm not sure crediting the increase width for quicker turn-in is accurate. Two years ago I was pretty much forced to 17" wheels when 245/45/16's apparently became obsolete and impossible to find outside of R compounds.
