Advice on selling 88 FC
 

Hello all,

I would like to sell my car as I feel it would be too much money to put in good condition again. The body looks great but mechanically it needs a lot of work. I used to have someone 8 years ago work on it but they left the state so it hasn't been worked on since. Now I do crank it up every so often just to make sure it works but yesterday I tried and it won't start. Just cranks and that's all. My question is, should I get it fixed or should I just try to sell it as is.

Old gas? You also could have flooded it

Do you have any mechanical abillity? Your better off fixing it to get more cash for it. If its not something simple, is when you even start to think of not fixing it.

Exactly how long has it been since you put new gas in it? You may look at some "fuel stabilizers" to add in.

Flooded for sure.

1#Car that has been sitting for longer than 6 months - may need new gas since the gas is bad due to loss volatile components ( what makes gas)

2# engine might have to much oil - check the spark plugs and oil sounds like a joke but its true .check the spark cables too.

3# Battery can be low- cranking amps are weak . also might have to to with your car not having enough ground.

4# starter problems - car starter might be dirty . solution remove starter clean the starter power cables .

5# alternator problems - if the alternator dose not work the engine might start for 3 seconds and turn off. since the alternator is bad.

His car would start and run with a bad alt, it will just drain the battery.
So I would rule that out.
