94 fd hot start issue

After driving and turning my car off and trying to start it hot it won't start. My AFR gauge will stay at 10-10.5 and also if I get it started hot I can not keep it started and sounds like it's choking. If I can keep it going it'll cut out if I don't play with the gas pedal. It doesn't happen when cold. Also after idling when hot for about 10 minutes it'll die and the issue starts all over again.

This was the final nail in the coffin for my last 13B... after a blown o-ring. I'd bet you've got a bad apex seal(s). Check your compression and start saving.

The first step in diagnosing the issue is having a compression test performed. An engine with low compression will typically have hot start issues. Doing the compression test can save you boat loads of time and money if the root cause is low compression. I use an RCTV5 from www.rotarycompressiontester.com Its a fantastic unit that has served me well.

I'd recommend a compression test as well. Like the poster above said, a compression test can save a lot of time and headache. It is definitely a good investment for all rotary owners

I had a similar problem that occurred about 10% of the time......
I had to wait for the engine temp gauge to get down to about 170 before engine would catch
...until then it wouldn't even try to catch.

The problem turned out to be a faulty engine temp sensor....and wire leading to it
(obviously the temperature helps the ECU determine proper fuel ratios)

If it is low compression, as a temp fix, you can put in a 2kw starter from the RX8.
