94 brakes in a 91 chassis

I have a 1991 model RX7 that came with 1994 front brakes. If anyone has done this swap can you provide the part number for the brake lines to mate the old with the new lines?

Thanks,

Ron Madurski

What makes you think it has 94 front brakes?

That is what the Tim (parts store manager and helpful individual) told me they were when I took them in to get pads for them. I've tried to contact the guy that I bought the car from but have not had any luck there.

Thanks,

Ron

I think both the FC and FD front calipers use the same brake pads.

We'll find out soon. They should be at the store today. What I need is a part number to get the brake lines connected. If it has not been done previously by anyone reading these posts I will take the caliper and the line from the master cylinder in and try to find one on the shelf that has the same threads and enough length to fit.

Thanks,

Ron

I dug around and found some reliable sources say that the brake pads are in fact the same between FD and FC 4-pot front calipers. A simple search of the 2nd gen section turned up many threads on the subject, and not one mentioned changing the brake lines. The mounting location should be nearly the same, so I see no reason the stock brake lines wouldn't work.

Yup. After the note about the pads being the same I searched for pads in a swap and found some posts. I'm going on the assumption that since the pads are the same and there is no mention of 94 to 91 brake line swaps they must be the same.

Thanks,

Ron
