93 FD3S Hatch Noise and Rough ride
I just purchased this car and am wondering what I can do to reduce hatch noise and also create a softer ride, the ride comfort is not as big of a deal because it goes away when on highway but the noise coming from rear is what everyone complains about first thing and hears from outside of vehicle. Any help appreciated, thanks!!

Is the car on Stock Suspension?
What exactly are you referring to as hatch noise? Can you explain it further..is it creaking, banging, screaming from midgets in your bins? |
Maybe this will help ----> Hatch Rattle Fix
Need more information on what you have for suspension now. Stock? Coilovers? What shocks...spring rates? |

Remember alot of things effect ride quality.... shocks, spring rates as well as tires. Both the type of tire your running...and size. I think ride quality is probably affected most by aspect ratio/sidewall. The lower the profile (thinner) the side wall, the harsher the ride. But tread width also makes some difference IMO. Stock tire size on 16 x 8 wheels was 225/50.
High performance tires tend to have stiffer sidewalls as well, so less compliance and a stiffer ride. As a new FD owner I recommend you make time and read through the FAQ sticky in the 3rd Gen. Section. There's a wealth of info there for the new owner. A couple hours there is worth a year of ownership experience in learning about the car. ;) |
