91 RX7 for Drift

Hello Guys,
Just joined and I d like to say hello to everyone. I just came across a 91 with engine damage and I ve been considering a build up with a 20B. Just curious to know if this is a good car and set up for drift. And also, is a 350 chevy conversion is possible and does anyone know of any companies offering instructions and parts for this conversion.
Appreciate any tips I can get.
Many Thanx.

See both the 20B forums and Other Engine Conversions forums on this website. That should answer most of your questions regarding those engine swaps.

As for drifting, no idea. You'd have to ask in the Drifting forum. I don't know anything about drifting because I'm over 30.

Here's my two cents:

The FC although possessing of all the aspects that a great drift car needs: high horsepower engine that loves high rpms and rear wheel drive is also an old car that is not cheap to maintain. With stock parts becoming more and more scarce rebuilding after an accident will be more difficult. Unless you have deep pockets, sponsors, or don't break things you may end up over your head. I'd rather use a 240SX as a drift car. But this is just my opinion.

Many Thanx.

Just find another 13b and get your suspension setup then move to the motor. And theres a guy who makes a whole 350 swap I'll try to find the link.

n/a 13b is kinda weak for drifting. u gotta plant it at high rpms to get those wheels spinning. get rid of the dtss bushings in the back. makes it kinda unpredictable. make sure u have an lsd. open diff are useless. 350 is a common swap these days for people who prefer low end torque and gas mileage lol.

Thanx for the tips Rotor. What do you mean by the dtss bushings?

I drift my 1988 gxl N/A S4.5 just fine. With my exhaust setup minor engine work and suspension upgrade its a blast. its enough power and torque for drifting. No need to listen to the little weenies that have never drifted a N/A.

Wet or Dry

Granny's SpeedShop specializes in V8 conversions.

The last time I checked, the going price for a professional 20B conversion was $35,000, so I would imagine that you would not want to go that route.
