'90 Rx7, wiper motor problem
Hi all. I tried to post this in gen-2, but apparently I don't have enough posts yet.
My '90 has what appears to be a common problem with that vintage, the wipers run only on low speed. I found the references to mazdamark.com, who are purported to be able to rebuild the offending relay, but their web site seems not to be working. Is mazdamark.com still the preferred fix to that problem? Anybody have any more current/better info? Thanks in advance... |
Mark (Icemark) died several months ago so it's fairly safe to say he won't be rebuilding any switches.
Pele on this forum is now rebuilding switches. |
I'm sorry to hear about Mark.
Pele are you listening? Any more detailed info about the relay in question? I've done quite a bit of rebuilding of electrical and electronic doodads myself, if somebody can point at where it is and suggest any hints for the repair, I'd be happy to dig into it myself. TIA... |
A quick search for "wiper relay" will probably turn up the info. I myself have tried to replace one but even with a temperature controlled desoldering iron I ended up ruining the board, and I've been an electronics hobbyist since I was 10! :) The boards are very poor quality and are easy to overheat. Then again, if it's already dead, no harm in trying.

Apologies again, but I'm still losing. I've spent about 45 min searching the forum. Found lots of references to the problem. Found lots of references to Mark's site, now gone. Found references to rotorwiki.com, also appears to be defunct. Didn't find any of the basic information about where the offending PC-board containing the relay is.
Is Mark's stuff archived anyplace? TIA... |
You can always try the wayback machine at www.archive.org. I was able to pull up a archived version complete with pictures.

Sounds like this stuff ought to get saved for posterity; if I do manage to find a coherent set of stuff, I'll post it in here someplace or find some other home for it. Thanks... |

These may help:
I spend some more time groveling in www.archive.org's past versions of mark's site. Haven't yet found the DIY instructions for the repair of the board. Will keep looking, maybe write a script to suck down the entire contents of all the versions that archive has. Thanks... |
Oh, I'm sorry. :) The board is in the switch itself.

When you go to archive.org, put the full path to icemark's wiper repair into the search box
http://www.mazdamark.com/DIY_wiper_repair.htm The Aug 02, 2007 archive pulls up for me, pictures and all. |
Also, here is a direct link.
