I've got the intake pipes and everything. i took those off to get the rats nest out. nd im thinking the only thing i need to do is a find an FC main fuse box and either take out those fuses or the entire fuse box and replace mine.

And according to you guys. sitting for ten years will cause seals to go bad. so whats the point of keeping this motor if it needs to be rebuilt. :icon_tdow

I never said your engine was bad. Apex seals do not just fail from sitting. The main problem with allowing it to sit is rust can build up inside the engine as well as the seals getting carbon locked in the rotors.

Honestly it is your car and you can do what ever you want with it. Sounds like you think you know more than everyone else, so go ahead and swap the engine. Good luck with your car.

not you but everyone i talk to about it both on here and in person seems to say that the motor will not start if stored outdoors for ten years regardless of my electrical situation. im only asking for advice.

and im getting mixed results from you and others. in YOUR professional opinion. once i get the electronics sorted out will it be hard to start the engine or even possible.

Ok, So how long is a peice of String???
Like the others have said, there is no telling what could be / could not be wrong with it. Best case scenario would be fuel pump, fuel lines injectors total tune up kit and probebly a few others... Thats without looking / considering if there were any electrical problems!

Other problem is we have no idea of what the engine condition is like, is there rust inside the engine (only humidity would have been needed), is the ECU or any of that still good....

Then say you gt lucky and it only costs your say 800 to get running, now you need to get it registered inspected, smogged..... Starting to get the idea?

Seriously, sell it to a racer for a few hundred, and go and buy yourself a running car for 2000. That would be my ultimate reccomendation, as far as i see it, theres no way your getting that car happening for under that, and the last thing you want to do is spend like 3500 to get the car running when its only worth 2000 anyway...

Just my thoughts...

Take out the 2 lower spark plugs, screw in a compression tester
first in the front housing. Turn over the engine check the reading
do the same to the rear housing. you need over a 85psi reading.

also you can remove exhaust turn engine and check the apex seals by pressing them in
but the side seals can be jammed after so many years.

well i was working on getting my rx started and i turned it over with no luck duhh. so i began checking the obvious. fuel- yes* spark-no. these are brand new plugs. anyone have any idea why they wont fire..coils..somewhere in the electrical system?

Kentetsu 08-26-10 07:51 AM

Which plugs are not sparking? Upper? Or lower?

GreedE 08-27-10 01:04 PM

you know the whole "duhh" and attitude that it sounds your giving isn't going to make anyone want to help you, if i were in your situation i'd just check what you could. but believe me its going to take alot of money and knowledge to get that rx7 running, so good luck kid hope you get your rx7 running

Heres an update a few questions for you guys.

ive got the spark plugs to get fire by unplugging the MAF sensor. i also replaced the fuel lines and fuel filter. next is the fuel pump? do you guys think it will need to be replaced? or just repaired. and one of my secondary fuel injectors has a broken electrical connection. but it still connects. it just doesn't snap down.:( And will the engine run with an unplugged MAF sensor.

thanks for getting me one step closer to my :dragster:

Banzai sorry about the phone thing its just something my friend had told me

now for SGG since your going to try it anyway no it wont run without the maf, unless you drop the tank and bench test the f/p you wont know if it works, a question for you how is it that you are checking the plugs, is the car making compression, are the injectors firing because the f/p could be sending fuel but are the injectors working, but i still wouldnt run the engine without checking it first.
just my "professional" opinion

Second.Gen.Gone. 09-03-10 12:45 PM

Thank you for all that. but i have no gas in my tank so iwouldnt know if either the pump or the injectors are working. but it did sputter when i put starting fluid in the intake. But i moved the car onto a car pad the other day and now it wont turn over. :icon_tdow im thinking its time to just sell the damn thing.

EDIT im testing the plugs by pulling them out and grounding it to a part of the engine while someone turns it over.
I didnt do a compression test but it sounds like its making a some.
