Vacuum leaks and a maladjusted TPS.

ok ill have to check into tht when i get the car to my house. someone actually told me it could be just low on antifreeze and that could cause it also

the guy had a turbo on it to i forgot to mention and i didnt know if that could cause it

Low coolant will not cause an idle problem.

Is it a factory turbo engine, or has someone fabbed up a custom system? Because certainly, vacuum leaks and other issues could have been created during the swap/install.

I was having the same problem with my 1988 non turbo. I started messing with the Cruise Control system and ended up fixing the problem.

i know its the 13b non turbo engine. i saw the bolt holes where he had the waste gate. its actually the guys sister im thinking about buying it from and of course she doesnt know really anything about it. but i know if he didnt upgrade the injectors and the fuel pump of could have caused some problems there with it running so lean. but now i dont even know if i will be getting the car bc she said he took it to salem and was going to do somethin to the brakes and now its smoking so i guess im back at square one.

I'd say stay away from the car at this point unless you plan on totally tearing it down and starting from scratch. Who knows what has been butchered. Maybe offer $500 if you want a project car...

on my s5 n/a the AFM or MAF was at to much of a angle, i put the stock airbox on and it was fine. of course i first replaced all the vac lines, intake gaskets, injector grommets, adjusted the TPS ect.
im not sure if the s4 AFM is affected by angle like the s5 one.

yea i am. and i would give her 500 for it but i go to school and work so it would raelly take me forever to save up money to get it running again
