82 Rx-7 GS not starting. Will turn over with remote starter
I bought a beat up Rx-7 for $550, and the story I got was she was rebuilt or was went through and a oil line started to leak so it was parked in 2006. The interior will need some work but isnt to bad, but the Doors and Hood are more or less shoot :( Frame rails are slightly damaged from bad jack placement and so on, still strait just a mild dimple on the drivers side. Surface rust under the driver seat rails and were the wiring harness trails through. Rear hatch looks lovely aside from all the surface rust and dust left from the spare tire rotting away, thou somehow still solid. So far the body is rust free excluding lids to the rear bumper assembly, and formentained items.
Heres some pics from my Reddit post Rx-7 love - Imgur Also Ladies I'm single So heres were things start getting weird, well not to weird for a $550 car that I may have over paid for lol... I bought a batter and hooked it up, all the lights and gauges worked, Turned Key to on and fuel pump started dumping out fuel to carbs flooding the engine. I turn the key to turn it over and nothing :( I know the engine is free since I could turn it over by hand, So I figured the starter was bad since I heard crunching each time I turned it by hand. Took that off with the help of my Cool neighbor "on a side note I've learned that sometimes friends don't always help when they say they'll help. It just means no rides for them in the pussy mobile once shes running" We tested the starter and it kicked and ran, after we shook a crap load of nut shells out of it.. Did I maintain My engine bay was full of nut shells? It looked like a nut holocaust. As we put it back in we noticed some really sketchy jerry rigging on the wiring for it, like passed the point of being lazy and entering retarded levels. We attached a remote starter to it and turned her over tldr;Ignition just dumps fuel and doesnt turn engine over or have any spark. Wiring is also quite questionable. Thanks, Berni :dunno: |

Alright, Got the coils checked and they're Good. I bled the clutch, Lots of brown gunk came out, so I'll be flushing it out later on down the road. So I'm thinking its the ignition now...

Have you checked the fuseable links on the driver side shock tower? It could also be the the ignition switch . I would buy a chiltons book and make sure you have power at and from the ignition switch , alot comes out of that switch .

Ya I have, they checked out good. Haven't tested the ones in the hatch and gonna test ignition soon
