82 GSL Leaky Carb

At idle engine seemed to make a funny "poot poot" almost like backfiring, but real quiet, the Carb turned out to be leaking fuel onto the secondary butterfly at idle, as well as from the accel pump and just about everywhere else, after driving the car a few times ( learning to drive stick), the fuel hit the exhaust, resulting in a cloud of smoke from the RF corner of the car, We drove it home, knowing it was leaking oil, but that was the left side of the motor, got home, the car was steaming gas vapors, very close to becoming a Carbeque... The carb is slated for rebuild, Not an easy thing to remove, but I cracked the nuts loose, removed them in the dark with a flashlight. Waited for light again to see all the Vacuum BS on the carb, Its coming off today for the gasket treatment.

REUSE THE OLD NEEDLE'S AND SEATS, that is IF they have never been changed before, and hopefully they haven't

All seems to be original. I think even the carb base/manifold gaskets were factory. It was very crispy, thank you for that, Id read that on another thread too, My dad is helping me rebuild it, He seems to think we have a problem in one of the needles and seats, or the floats, but It was leaking from the accel pump and main gaskets for the bowls. It ran and passed CA smog the way it had been lol, because it was burning more gas outside the motor than inside xD. So I told my dad if it ran and passed smog the way it had been leaking gas and probably vacuum, then how can we make it worse? Im new to rotary, just got the car in Jan, but I rebuilt a TBI system on a car that i didnt even know what it was, so i could circle track race it, and i didnt know anything about TBI when i started, I have a general theoretical knowledge of the rotary and how everything works, My first experience wrenching on one. We took a lot of pictures so we could hook all the vacuum garbage back up to the carb, it has a lot of doohickeys, Wish CA didnt suck and would move smog exemption up to 80s, Id be cruisin an RB Holley setup for sure, but trees n shit, whatever. Car should be safely back on the road within a week
