3gr swap?

If I took the 3gr out of my 06 Lexus GS and mated it to my fc, would that produce similar results to swapping my rot for an n/a 2jz? Constructive answers please

The "other engines conversion section" would answer this for you.

Already have asked a ton of trd guys and no one knows. Will keep searching forum

diabolical1 06-06-13 09:12 PM

have you compared the following metrics between the two?

power
torque
powerband/torque curve
weight
aftermarket support

CAthetougekidCO 06-06-13 11:56 PM

What aftermarket support lol? It was a hypothetical question so I had no need to get that specific

so essentially you specified constructive answers in a thread you started solely for conjecture?

Output of that engine is "average", and only 26 more hp than the S5 turbo RX7. It's actually less hp an S6+ RX7!

If piston engine swap you must, go with an engine that either makes a lot of hp (gm ls comes to mind), or is slim in form and easy to work on (hondas s2k f20/f22 comes to mind, and held the record for the highest horsepower per liter for any NA piston road production car for 10 years).

However, I don't condone a piston swap in a rotary powered vehicle. There are only a limited number of rotary powered vehicles. There are millions of piston powered vehicles. Let some one else enjoy your rx7 the way it was meant to be, with it's soul intact.

no the reason that I specified constructive answers is because most people who own rx7s are pretentious fake know it all pussies. I have been dealing with rot drivers since my first in 06. anytime I say put a v8 in your car everybody on the forum or IRL says you don't know what you're talking about rotary rotary rotary. so I can appreciate more about the FC than just a tiny underpowered motor. I also want to inspire people to build their car the way they want it and not the way that I want it. Heil wankel

and yet somehow your idea of transcendence was to come to an Rx-7 board (filled with ... how did it go ... "pretentious, fake, know-it-all pussies" and ask for opinions?

look, I don't particularly care what you do with your cars. my point is you here (to the New Member) section instead of the Engine Swap section and asked a question that you didn't even bother to look into for yourself. and yes, I suppose you could say this is the New Member section and you should be sheltered from people telling you to search, and you're right. it should be. then again, this is an Rx-7 board. it's not going to have information on Toyota engines readily available for search. so, yeah, providing relevant information for us to hold any sort of decent discussion about them falls on you - and that was pretty much the purpose of my first post, to try to coax you into making this thread relevant.

so in case anyone is ever interested in this particular question, I will link some general information to get a search started:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_GR_engine
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_JZ_engine

but this is it. one's a straight 6 and one's a V6. i'm not looking up graphs and weights and such.

diabolical1 06-07-13 05:34 PM

you've made your own thread pointless. great job.

closed.

EDIT: oh and for the record, being one of those so-called "pussies" that you referenced. you probably need to research that, too, because I have nothing against piston-engine swaps into Rx-7s and in fact, i'm quite impressed (and a fan) of a great number of them.
